Would you pay for increased risk of skin cancer?
overexposed
to ultraviolet rays
increased risk of cancer
why not pay
for that
nice bronze color
that over time
turns into
a leathery body
wrapped in wrinkles
Melanoma
Anyone?
Up your risk by 75 percent
Deadly as arsenic
A study reveals
In the US alone
One million people per day
Put short term beauty
Before health

Excellent point! Thank you for posting this. More people need to be made aware of the danger of this ridiculous vanity! I do not care that my legs are white enough to make a vampire cringe. At least I can enjoy life without the fear of nasty spots taking it away from me. Besides when I am forty, and still look twenty five, and everyone who cooks themselves in the sun is forty and looks seventy-two, I can look on in astonishment and ask… "Was it worth it?"Very good poem, by the way. Please, if you have more, you should post them. I love reading poetry.
I have long wondered when this news would break, my three granddaughters, their mother have used tanning beds for several years.By the way none of them SMOKE or ever did, never wanted to.I on the other hand have smoked for many years, As a youth I was a daily water and sun baby.
I see all these young people that always tan before weddings, etc. Pretty soon they'll all be glowing in the dark from radiation treatment. Sad, isn't it? Good writing. Thanks for sharing.
It's funny how much looking like a outside labourer is the height of fashion.I guess since chicken wings sell more than thighs I shouldn't be surprised.Funny how much my father was in fashion before he died from melanoma.Very true words Kirby
Yeah, and I read somewhere that most people who go tanning also smoke a lot. AWESOME – a 2-for-1 deal!Stupid.Great poem though.
This feels like poetry of the streets, an outcry set to a rhythm, for everyone to see. With a strong message.
I was about to say duh no but then I read this and realized…..its not a duh anymore…….how sad….an awesome poem
