Would this violate racism laws?
I want my advertising to show that the treatments and products that I sell are suitable for all different skin types so I was hoping to use about 4 or 5 models with different skin tones. If the models that respond to my advert are all white would it be legal for me to put up a new poster advertising for black and asian models or would that violate racism laws?
I suspect that it might but I can't afford to hire professional models and when I was modelling myself (many years ago now) I used to (when I was first starting out) do similar jobs to this myself where I wouldn't get paid but I would get a copy of the photographs to use in my portfolio.
The city where I train has very few black or asian people. My best friend is black and she's gorgeous but she isn't interested in being my model! My husband is Asian but he's a man and all of his friends are men and none of them are married or have sisters in this country!

There are no "racism laws" except to not discriminate.
In the ad I would sayModels Needed1 White1 Asian1 African America etc, that way you do not step on anyones toes
Forget them. Do what you feel is necessary in order to realise your ambitions. Don't let yourself be bullied by these people.
You might want to add: "People of different ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply".
of you put on your posterlooking for people from all back grounds and race that would be fine.if you then later put up a poster or ad asking for people from the ethnic community coz you still needed people from them groups i really cant see how anyone could accuse you of being racist.the fact is if a TV show like Eastenders was looking for an actor to play the part of a black character no-one could accuse the show of being racist coz of the fact they employ people from all racesso the same would apply to you Source(s): my head
why dont you put in your poster that your products are designed for all skin colours and that you're looking for models of all skin tones to model for them. That's not wrong at all and its honest. And then on subsequent posters you can repeat the information and then put in a line saying you are still looking for certain models as you have found some but not all that you are lookng for. i think that would be fair, and it would be covering your a** too.
I think you are worrying too much honey by advertising all skin types you are including everyone whoever they are.You want to advertise your skincare products for all skin types keep it simple.
its only illegal to be prejudiced against non whites, its not illegal to discriminate against whites.
