Would this be racist if I did this…?
Ok well there is this new gigantic mall that just opened last month near my neighborhood and it is like a high class mall too. It has like a french setting and nothing but name brand stores and 5 star restaurants and a bunch of other stuff it is amazing. Anyways, my friends and I were going there and they were having this big little fashion event with crazy sales, free makeovers, mini fashion shoes, food, and everything, so they happened to have some stands set up to enter in for some contest. All of them seemed lame except for this one that gave you the ability to make your own fashion show for February's show and I automatically signed up. Long story short I sent in a copy of my designs with the Application and I won so now I get to start designing how I want my fashion show to go and my designs are going to get custom made and they are going to pay for it all. All I had to do was brainstorm. So I was just watching the tyra show and they were talking about models of all nationality's should be shown on Vogue and runway more and how it usually seems that caucasian models are usually what is excepted. So I came up with the idea to have all models of all nationality's. Asian, African, Indian, Latina, ect except for caucasian no offense to anyone. I just want to embrace the beauty of other skin colors and ethnicity's I want to show that others are beautiful too. My question is if this would be racist or not?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters no. white people have made it a habit to purposely exclude those groups…every once in awhile, just to show they aren't racist, they use a minority just to sort of say they have one. so no, i don't think so. i think those groups are very underrepresented on average…and it sounds fair to me. i mean, i can understand white people are the majority, but it still seems to me that it would be normal that you would have a fair representation of everybody. but that's hardly the case. when we have fashion shows where i live, it's the same thing. 1 black woman and maybe an asian woman, just to say they are there…but maybe by doing the same thing they're doing, you're not proving anything…so if you truly do not want to exclude anybody and show the beauty in diversity, include (white) redheads or "alternative" white females (like punk rock, emo, pierced, tattooed, etc you get the picture lol) women. they're also a little underrepresented.
Yes it is…you should have Caucasian as well…why would you exclude any ethnicity?…i am white with blonde hair/blue eyes and I work in an office with hispanic girls…they always exclude me from things such as conversations, christmas parties, etc….i feel left out…you should not do that to caucasians…but celebrate all beauty in your fashion show
It's usually called Positive Discrimination and under these circumstances I don't see it as an issue. Clearly there is no offence meant, though the mall's management might have something to say. You should be fine. Congratulations on your win.
Racist is way too strong of a word. If I were you, I would represent everyone, not just minorities, but that is up to you.
Probably, since most of the customers/citizens of US are white, perhaps put an ad out for all nationalities. Any nationality can be beautiful.
LOL at the first answer. maybe you should offer them some burritos, hispanics go crazy over them. and yes you are being racist, might as well just have drag queens as your models
long story long yes it is racist
AHAHA how much time did you spend making up/typing this question?
