Why is the government forcing us to have car insurance during a recession?
Why should the government have anything to do with my car or what type of insurance I get?

I'm see where you're going with this. When people get in accident, they have to have insurance or the other people will have to pay. When people with no health insurance go to the emergency room, the hospital and the tax payers end up having to pay.
The government that requires car insurance is that of the state in which you reside. They require it so that if you crash into someone, they can sue you/your insurance company to pay for the damage you did to them or their car. You can't possibly think you should be allowed to drive a vehicle that weighs a couple thousand pounds and will easily travel 75 miles per hour and not be required to carry liability insurance on it.
It's forcing you to assure the public that you can pay them in the event that you permanently injure them, without the excuse of, "Oh, sorry. Although you are injured for life, I don't have enough money to pay you so I guess that's that."Do you see the reasoning?I mean, no one is forcing you to have a cellphone, but I'm pretty sure you aren't willing to give that up and the $70+ extra you would have per month.Based on your question, someone could wreck your car, say they don't have insurance, and not have to pay you, leaving you without a car! How fair would that be? It works both ways.
Because you are driving on public roads. If you don't want to pay for car insurance, that's fine. You just can't drive on public roads. The reason is that if you're uninsured, you most likely won't be able to pay for damages if you cause an accident. If you don't want to pay all of that money, find the absolutely cheapest car insurance you can get.
So, let me see if I understand this. Someone without car insurance smashes into your car, causing serious injury to you and totaling your car…and you are going to say, "Oh, that's ok. No big deal. I'll take care of it myself." Somehow I doubt that. I bet you have a cell phone that you text all your little friends on and obviously you can afford a computer and the internet. It's called "priorities", nimwit. If you're going to drive, you need insurance. There, now wasn't that simple?
Because too many illegal immigrants and iresponsible drivers hitting people without having insurance, leaving those who did nothign wrong to pay the consequnces of not having the money to pay for their lost time at work or hospital care.you don't have to pay for auto insurance… ride a bicycle.
They don't- it's a state thing- a few don't require it.And you don't have to drive. If you don't want healthcare, you don't have a choice, do you die in that case? It's just another body law (or "eat your vegetable law"), cause the government is getting too paternalistic, and is so much smarter than we are.
Insurance in regulated by the State. Apparently the people in the state in which you live have decided that if people want to drive they need insurance. It isn't the "Government" that is requiring this.
They don't. You don't have to drive a car. They have no say over what car you do or don't drive.
Because if you hit me and don't have insurance then I am SOL. Guess what, I want you to have insurance. Oh, I was just in an accident where someone hit me and injured me, and totaled my car.
Because you drive your car on government property and put myself and other responsible people who do have insurance at great risk by operating your vehicle without it.
That answer makes no logical sense. If you do not have insurance, I would not want you to drive. You are an idiot if you do not have insurance and drive. If you can not afford it sell your car!
So if someone smashes into your car, you can get it fixed.
Because they regulate the PRIVILEGE of driving a car.Driving is not a RIGHT.
That would be state law. If you want to drive you need insurance to be accountable for your actions.
They're not. If you are still financing your vehicle, it's the title holder that is requiring you to have insurance.
Gosh! I know!
This law has been around for a long time so there is no changing it!
because you might hit me!!
ok, but what does the recession have to do with it?
because insurance is a fraud, its all about the money my friend
