Why is light skinned and nose jobs so popular in the philippines?
why is it that the beauty standard in philippines is light skinned, tall, and light colored eyes? i think it's just a fake look. everything should be natural, everyone just looks alike now. also, it is very obvious it is fake

LOL, i wonder the same. they just want to look "hot" theyre jealous of white people. LOL. Source(s): im filipino xD
You should omit nose jobs. Not everyone wants to become Michael Jackson. And by your insidious insinuation, do you suppose the Filipinos should try to look more like Pakistanis?Filipinos are Christian people.
Nose jobs are expensive procedures that an ordinary Filipino cannot afford. If at all they are popular it's only among (some) celebrities. I suppose they want to "improve" their looks and that's their prerogative. Same with nationals of other countries. Cosmetic surgeries happen everyday. If they can afford it, why not?The debate between what is more beautiful – light or dark skin – is a matter of personal choice too. Not all Filipinos want to look like "Hollywood" luminaries.
Goes the same with white people who would bar-b-q them selves under the blistering heat just to look mulatto or tanned. And white people prepare their selves for the spring and go to a tanning bed just to look tanned and that my finely feathered friend is fakeness, too.
Filipinos have bought into the Hollywood stereotype, which is "white is right."
Philippinos are really the opposite of all those. They want to stand out…Pinoys are awesome!!!
For the same reason that the tanning industry is a billion dollar market in North America: Everyone wants what they don't have.
It goes back to the "Casta or Caste" system under the Spanish, which divided people into Criollos, Mestizos, Penninsulares, Insulares(Indios). The Penninsulares are the pure blood Spanish which were rich, and usually were in charge of politics and they were born in Spain, the Criollos are pure Spanish born in the country like Philippines. The Insulares are all the ethnic groups that are not from Spain, and in Philippines were called Indios, they were usually poor and dark skinned so this separation of wealth and power between dark people and lighter people created a culture that valued lighter skin, Filipinos call it clean looking skin.
