Why do the Soft Claws keep falling off my cats?
I just bought the Soft Claws from Petsmart the other day and applied them to my cat and kitten. They seem to not notice them or care that they are there after applying them. After a few hours though 2 or 3 will fall off. I am applying them just the way it says, but can't seem to keep the caps on either of my cats. I have notice though that no matter what size I use I can't seem to get them to sit all the way up to the skin like they recommend. With both of them it seems that the nail itself is just to thick to fit all the way down in side. The length is perfect if I could actually get the nail down in the cap that far. I have tried using a bigger size and even tried modifying the cap by trimming it. Maybe they are falling off because they aren't on the nail far enough? Why won't the nail go all the way down in the cap so it fits like the picture shows? Why am I doing wrong? Someone help!

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters First make sure you have the right size. If one cat is grown and the other is a kitten you should have to use 2 different sizes. From what you have described I'd think the problem is you aren't adding enough glue to the cap before putting it on. I have used them before and while the first time they do tend to fall off a little early, it's usually on about a week or two first.
Did you use the glue? and good on you for not de-clawing your cats:D go you! woooooooo!!! I like people who treat animals nicely.
i thought you had to use glueE
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful about the Soft Paws (I'm sure someone else can), but if it continues to to give you problems, you may consider clipping their nails periodically. Since they seem to let you hold their paws you shouldn't have much trouble. A vet can show you how to do it without hitting the quick (the little vein up high in the nail) and making them bleed a bit. Its easy when the cat is cooperative and will save your furniture (and carpet, and legs and hands
) the same as Soft Paws.
