The basic problem here is stereotypes. Due the the connection between cultural traditions and race (or skin color), the color of one's skin has become the easiest venue in which to attach the stereotype to. A "black person is a drug addict, a criminal, and can not speak well. An Arab/muslim is a terrorist. An Asian is smart. A Jew is rich. The list goes on. In all of these examples there is some physical feature that establishes that they are of a certain culture. People who do care about such trivial things a race are taught to do so. As small children, we don't care about what are friends look like just that they are our friends. As we grow, we learn (often by example) from the older people around us what is appropriate behavior. If the s around you thought that race mattered, then you learn that race is important. If, by contrast, they saw only people and not colors, then you learned to do the same. You seem to be one of the lucky ones in that you do not care. Perhaps if more of us teach the little ones to be blind to the color of a person's skin, such matters will go the way of witch hunts and lynchings.

I don't think it is so much about skin color as differences in culture between people who look different.
That's not what people care about.
it more about cultural differences and some people want their children to look like them.
I'm a people and I don't care about skin colour.
