Why do people base people's beauty by the European standard of beauty?
For instance, if a girl is dark skin with broad features and kinky hair, she wouldn't be seen as pretty like a person who is light skin with blond hair and blue eyes.
Why do people do this?

I really don't care this is still beautiful to me:http://www.naturalbeautifulhair0o0com/uplo…http://www.naturalbeautifulhair0o0com/uplo…http://www.dreamstime0o0com/african-woman-…http://www.dreamstime0o0com/beautiful-afri…
European standard of beauty is heavily promoted through mass media. With the global influence of wealthy European nations and the United States and Canada, movies, magazines, and other mass media (and foods) from those nations are also distributed around the world. With the globalization of English by England and United States, most people are able to readily watch an English language movie vs. a movie created in a different language. Perhaps this would have been different if nations with primarily darker skinned and broader featured individuals had a bigger influence upon the world, and their movies and mass media was circulated globally. In my own ethnic country, we also favor the lighter skinned, not so broad features. Personally, I think beauty comes in many different forms, regardless of skin tone or country of origin. Source(s): Grew up a minority in America.
People do this in America, not everywhere else.In countries where the diversity is huge, the blond-blue-eyes stereotype is not the model of beauty. In America, different colors and cultures don't mix as well as it does in other cultures ( you see mixed families, but the average people don't think it is a good idea) and it helps to make people keep thinking that the white kind is the prettiest. They are trying to change it, you can notice in commercials and movies, they show a lot of different kind of people, but people still like to classify people by their look and color. I don't think the european standards of beauty are the base for everybody,
Because most people gravitate toward the familar. People with European roots tend to be in the majority of you happen to live in the U.S., Canada, Australia or, of course, Europe, so media and entertainment outlets are naturally going to lean heavily toward what the majority find attractive. It would be a different story in, say, Kenya or Japan, where you wouldn't find such adherence to a European standard of beauty.
I think some people base their concept of beauty on advertising. Whatever it takes to sell the most products will be promoted as beauty. But we all know a fine woman when we see one, and they come from everywhere, not just Europe. Blacks, Asians, Hispanics and others all have some awesome women, and many women of all types don't need much in the way of products to be as beautiful as they are.
AmenYou said itTake for EXAMPLE:Even every girl had a light skinned, blue eyed, blond hair, barbie doll. Now, their are dolls of different skin tones, and ethnic backgrounds that seeks break these barriers, so every body can be accepted. I think its because europeans colonized the world for centuries so the world has become somewhat eurocentric in its standard. However I really like guys that look asian or blasian. I love the eyes bone structure and culture ewwwwwwwww yummy… blond and blue eyes are hardly a turn on for me but a great personality could totally make up for it!!! Source(s): my loins
okay im with on the question that people think beauty as european. but im not with you on the hair comment. kinky hair should not be anybody. i like girls who don't have kinky hair or european hair. the hottest girl intown to me is half black/ half white and she has poofy hair. matter of fact the best looking girls to me or half black and half white. Some reason their hair looks great to me!But as far as the whole white picketed fence and white wife, dog. Yeah, they think thats a great life. Where as to some other cultural things aren't. Public media is to blame for that!
Because girls with fair skin, are seen as more beautiful :SThat's smart, I never thought of it that way….European people are gorgeous.Seriously.But I don't see that girls with blue eyes are pretty:SI'm Lebanese Arab, with light skin and green eyes…I never really thought of it that way.Its wrong though
baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaappl are just like sheep. they have to be lead, they can't think 4 themselves. if the standard of beauty was fat, w/ crossed eyes. u would see everybody trying to look that way.
Colonial Mentality I guess.
I don't. I can't tell if a person is "pretty" or "ugly" until I hear their words and see their actions.
