White Americans: Do you care more about your pets or your kids?
Notice in my question I did not say White people because that would mean I am referring to Germans, Italians and all Europeans, I said White Americans specifically. Living in America for years (almost a decade) I have noticed that Hispanic, Asian and African American families tend to hold their kids dear to them and love them. Having a lot of White friends I have noticed that most White Americans don't really care that much about their kids but that is not the matter of discussion, I am surprised to find out that a lot of them would much rather care for their pet dogs or pet cats.
I notice most White Americans kissing their dogs and cats but not even giving their kids a hug. I mean that is just sad.
I feel that my knowledge on this topic is minimal and superficial but I have seen this happen QUITE OFTEN so I just decided to ask everyone on here and maybe I am viewing it the wrong way.
Can you guys please answer my question and help me clear my understanding on this topic?

Your understanding is a bit off. Most White Americans usually do not have kids as often as Black, Hispanic and Asian Americans do and there are more single White people than single Black, Hispanic and Asian people. As a result of this recluse lifestyle a lot of White people tend to own pets to keep them company.I have noticed that most PETA members are White and a lot of White people tend to be obsessed with animals. Usually when you watch Animal Planet a lot of White Americans are mainly on there kissing their dogs and making out with them while you don't see as many people of other races doing that. A lot of animal rights groups are started by Whites. As for kids, it has to do with culture. Pioneers and explorers had to go months and years without seeing their families so they relied on animals as their source for protection and most Whites therefore are not as attached to their families as Hispanics, Blacks and Asians are. As a result Whites are more attached to animals than kids due to history.
Well I'm black, and I don't have kids at the moment, but I'd take a puppy over a man any day. I love pets, and unlike humans they don't hurt you. So if I were to end up alone with only my puppy, I would be very greatful and satisfied. I do want kids, but if I don't ever have any I can always depend on a puppy. Source(s): Animal Lover
My husband is white and he loves cats, but I am allergic to cats. He didn't think twice about giving them up to be with me. I like cats and even thought about getting a hairless Spinx so I don't have to inhale the dander. My husband got mad and said why would I put myself through that just to have a cat. He said cats are banned from our house. End of discussion.
good question. if you notice lots of whites tend to be hoarders and they really like having pets. the whites i know love their kids. they also have a zoo in their houses. i don't think kids even matter whites just love pets. it must be where you live where all this child neglect is happening.have a nice day.
Just a guess, but White American women stateside don't take care of their children. Black women did it during slavery time and rich white families still hire Black help to raise their children. I have no idea why it happens, but Black people tend to believe white women don't know how to take care of home.
If you want to know why, it's because kids are fu*king brats and animals love you unconditionally. Plus they cost less. Good thing I'm never having children. But I love my cats and dogs! My Chihuahua looks so cute running around in her little pink sweater lol.
…Have you tried asking this in the other society and culture section? Trust me you're not gonna get a serious answer here.EDIT: I think the user Cordi may be on to something. It makes sense. lol
i have no children. the world is not a decent place for children.
im black and i like dogs
You are so right about that I've noticed it quite often but people tend not to say anything because that would be politically incorrect. My sister in law just lost her pet she spent weeks crying while her daughter who is in college needs her she cares more about the dog than her own daughter and that is sad. Animals tend to matter to them more than humans to tell you the truth. When there is a hurricane their thoughts are mostly about helping feeding the pets while they are oblivious to their own kind. Just my opinion.
