What is asking too much?

"This I Ask"

Be thou my talisman;
I shall be thy sword.
Let me hang thee around my neck as my testament,
my beauty.

Lie still in arms bearing sharpest blades,
my presence like city walls.
Thou art the heart of my fortress,
the kiss from the gods,
sacred blessing on my citadel.

Lock thy heart away inside me,
let me cherish
thy breath upon my skin like Living Water;
thy lips against my lips in thrumming prayer.

This warrior is thine,
thy banner and thy lover.
Feign no smile to hide thy sorrow,
look not upon me with regret when I come home drenched in wounds.
Red droplets of devotion are the only jewels I have.

Be thou my talisman
and I shall take the scars behind thine eyes.
They are beautiful in mine.
