What do you think of these elves?

Okay, here's one short chapter on elves. It's not very good yet, and I want comments/criticism. Thanks. :3
Do you like how they talk or is it annoying?

“It would be interesting, yes, but dangerous…” Shael Silverglow nodded slowly. “What is is called again?”

“Acerlen Academy,” Ara Ironseer said.

The two elves were both discussing what Ara had heard from some faeries nearby. There, according to the group of small faeries, was a new school opening in northern England called Acerlen Academy that would be allowing most magickfolk into their school. The first and only school that would be. It seemed dangerous to Shael but Ara was excited.

Shael was a young elf princess with bright baby blue eyes and shiny dark brown hair in a neat plait that reached her lower back. Her skin was pale and she was a natural beauty, no doubt about it. Ara, however, had a more poorer status of the Elven Wood but her dearest friend was Shael.

She had dark purple eyes and black hair, a very unusual combination for a Light Elf. No one but Ara’s grandmother, who took care of Ara, knew that her family was in fact descended from Dark Elves. It would be horrible if the Elven Wood knew about it.

The Elven Wood was divided into two; the western part for the Light Elves, eastern for the Dark Elves. It was forbidden that either cross the boundary no matter the reason.

“I would love to go, to meet new people; the merfolk have always seemed lovely,” Ara said with a big smile.

“But the werewolves! Vampires! They can not control themselves for they are merely teenagers,” hissed Shael.

“As we are.”

“You know that the Light Elves are skilled enough to keep our distance from outsiders and only use our powers for good. And most of us are not that young,” she added as an afterthought.

“We all have much to learn,” Ara said, standing up and wandering across Shael’s room of the palace. “It will be fun.”

“Full moon will not be fun, and thinking of it, neither will any other nights! Vampires are not trustworthy Ara.”
“Fine, then I suppose I shall go and you stay,” Ara said. She gasped inwardly and avoided Shael’s eyes. She had never said anything like that before to Shael.

Shael seemed to think before she spoke hesitantly. “No, forgive me. I will think about it, and if I say yes then we may go, but if not then I wish you good health and bid you farewell before you leave.”

Ara nodded and departed the room. Even though they were indeed very good friends, Shael was intimidating and you had to be careful of what you said. She soon came out of the palace, high in the trees. The palace was made by wood, enchanted to make it feather light. As she climbed down the many trees she fantasized about Acerlen Academy. Soon she was in the part of the trees where elves resided.

She was lost in her thoughts when she bumped into Ryfon Bladecutter, a handsome elf who she secretly liked. Ara lost her balance on a particularly shaky branch and was about to fall when Ryfon grabbed her arm delicately and pulled her up.

“Oh, thank you.” Ara said, looking up into Ryfon’s vivid green eyes. “And I am sorry.”

“It is okay,” he smiled gently. “And what were you thinking about? Forgive me, but you seemed quite content and interested in something.”

“Yes, it was the new school for many magickfolk. I was excited, seeing as I will go once it is time. Have you heard of it?”

“Is it called Acerlen Academy? I do not know much about it but it does seem fascinating,” Ryfon hesitated then opened his mouth again. “Would you like to come with me? I was going to visit Faelar.”

“I would love to but I have got to get home; my grandmother is waiting for me.”

He nodded. “I understand. I will see you tomorrow then.”

Ara watched him wave and turn his back to her. She hated to leave but she had to. She waved back and jumped down from the branch and continued on to her house.
