There isn't ONE BEST website online for car insurance. There are quite a few of them.Recently when I was looking for car insurance I found this site:http://www.1carinsurance.orgThey told me which providers were offering insurance in my state. It was great.I also tried:http://www.progressive.comhttp://www.geico.combut I got the cheapest insurance from the first site.
if you reside in CA i can review 70 different companies for you and also deal with business partners that provide products from carriers i do not carry to get you a good offer: Source(s): http://www.carlparkerins.biz <- My Web Site
Try to find out what your friends pay for insurance. I pay a little over $800 a year for full coverage. If the car is a few years old drop the collision and it should be around $400. Never had any luck with the on line companies as they were much higher.

Try Progressive.com or Allstate.com first.
Progressive will give you quotes from several insurers.
