Want to start taking care of my skin, but don't know where to start?
The only makeup I've ever put on to go outside is eyeliner occasionally and gloss (rarely).
But I want to start taking care of my skin. Not makeup so much, but…. cleaning… it…. and…. exfoli-….. that big word that I don't know how to spell.
What are the "basics" ?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters The most common mistake people make is using too many products, which can make the problem worse. To clear up pimples or acne keep your face scrupulously clean – a mild soap and water is all you need unless you have significant outbreaks and then you should use an antibacterial soap. Wash only twice a day. Rinse well. Drink plenty of water. Avoid touching your face if you have not first washed your hands – our hands have TONS of bacteria on them. If you do get a pimple, do not pick at it. Treat it by using a hot wet compress (clean washcloth) two or three times a day. If you want to use a moisturizer, use olive oil. It really does work and is not at all greasy, despite what you might think. Never put anything on your skin that you would not also consider eating, as if it is rubbed into the skin it is also absorbed into the blood stream. If you do these things and you still have uncontrolled outbreaks of pimples, see your doctor, as you may have acne, which usually requires prescription medication. Here is a good site with lots of information.http://www.ehow0o0com/topic_4017_basics-sk…
Basics would be cleansing every evening/morning, using a face wash, and sometimes switch to an exfoliator. (Face washes cleanse your pores and prevent spots by taking away dirt, but exfoliators take off dead skin cells.) Be sure to use a light mousteriser after cleansing, or a richer one if you have dry skin. I recommend Clean and Clear, the products are very gentle on skin. I wouldn't bother with make up, its not good for your skin! But occassional make up is nice, say only on the weekends. Source(s): experience
ok, so first, wash your face with some type of face wash every morning and night. This will keep your pores from clogging up and remove dead skin cells. Also, you could use homemade face masks 2 to 3 times a weej\k. here are some REALLY GOOD ones that i use*TO exfoliate and make a natural glow:put 2 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl, then add in one tablespoon of green tea. Make sure the tea isnt too hot, otherwise it will dissolve the sugar, which you DONT want. Mix the tea in with the sugar, then add in one more table spoon of sugar, along with one or both of the following: honey (1 tsp or 1 tsp lemon juice).mix. The final product is a facial scrub, which can last for 2 weeks in the refridgerator. U can take some of the scrub and rub it into your skin in circular motions for 3 to 5 minutes. Leave it on for 1 min after tht. Then rinse off w/ lukewarm water, and your face will feel soft immediatly! I swear by this scrub! it leaves your skin feeling AMAZING!TO moisturize:mash up half a banana and add in 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey. mix. put onto face and leave on for atleast 10 minutes. This is good in the winter, as it moisturizes skin.honey is used to moiturize and add a natural glow to you skin. It also makes if really soft hahalemon juice exfoliatesgreen tea is just plain freaking good for your skin
it contains A TON of antioxidants.sugar contains glycerin, which is awesome for your skin too.WHEW sry about this answer being so long! haha but hope i helped! good luck

I am not a makeup person, either, but love having healthy, radiant skin. I started using a line of products and loved them so much I got my wholesale account and now share them with others, who also can get the products at wholesale. I encourage you to check out the FC5 line of facial skin care – keep it simple. The wash and toner in one and a moisturizer. You may add an eye cream if you are over 20. Get 20% off and a 45-day guarantee. You will be so glad you tried it, that's all I can say. The products are simply great. Check them out at http://www.sandradixon.myarbonne0o0com Good luck, and let me know if I can help any further.
I believe the word you're looking for is "exfoliate". I like to wash my face with a castile soap based cleanser morning and night, and then afterward I use a fragrance free SPF 15 lotion. At night I wash my face in the shower so I like to exfoliate while I'm at it. I use organic sugar, it's a really excellent way to rub off dead skin. Once a week or so, it's nice to use a clay based mask on your skin, it leaves it really soft. Good luck!
to start with the "basics", you want to find some nice scents. i recommend lavender. then you need to put lotion on if you want your skin to be nice and smooth. i recommend bath & body works for the lotion; they also sell body wash and shampoos. burt's bees will have some nice exfoliating things, but you should also go to a mall or just a grocery store near you to see what they have.
