"This mortal's breath"

Within my breath, this life of mine
a deep soul is sighing
yet only faintly shows through a shy smile

An innocence still remains
but passion overwhelms
Love's door has opened

But it is an effort breathing
Inhaling and exhaling, without you
I struggle to hold on to life within

One day at a time
One hope, one wish upon a star
A daydream ever present

A soulful, entrancing song that beckons
across the ocean, like a whisper
It calls me home to you…

Like a child yearning to play in the sunlight
after long, dark days of rain
I long to bask in your presence

Unwilling to renounce or relinquish
Forever hoping against hope
for a life long dream to realize

An akin soul to give my all to
A magical soul, tainted with sadness
but great beauty still shines through

Like a diamond hidden
in a darkened mine
Still precious, strong, and true

I wish to wipe away all aches of past
My offering; Truth's healing waterfalls
to turn grey eyes again blue

Oh, this breath of life, so ephemeral
If only for a sacred moment
to share it all with you

Yes, every space, every molecule
of this loving, ardent being
each enchanting touch, caressing

I imagine an eternal scorching kiss,
skins melting together, such delight
Hearts' melodies arise, and we ascend

The greatest gift now, your voice
restoring faith, comforting, alluring
as I revel in your light, and we ignite

I breathe deeper as we lift away the shadows
revealing shades of sapphire, emerald and ruby
Our victory, hope and passion in sight

A glimpse of the heavens now visible
of the divine, the unwavering faith
The greatest heights of human life displayed

Oh! speak to me beloved, sing a tender song
for in this shallow, aching breath of mine
there is boundless passion waiting

Free yourself of all that binds you
Come to me…so we may breathe love's pure air
Together, standing tall again, triumphant

The angels hear me, sigh, and even shed a tear
as they look upon this mortal's fleeting breath
They see that through time.. I breathe only for you
