   use a higher level bed… it might be more expensive but its the only way I got tanner after I stopped getting tan in a base bed. the lotions really don't matter as much as the bed you're tanning in I've found out and try going every other day Source(s): What i've learned when I've been tanning..    If you have been watching or reading the news lately you know how bad tanning beds are. Try spray tanning or live being pale. Some lotions can also give you color. I had a friend who died of cancer from tanning. She looked great in the coffin but her husband and children still miss her.

   If the place you go tanning has upgrades to nicer beds I would do that if I were you, the lotion helps but it can only do so much. The place I go has Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 so usually it just takes a level 2 or maybe a higher level bed once in a while.
