Sores on my goldfish?
I'm thinking that maybe it's fin rot but I'm not sure that fin rot can attack the actual body and gills? I noticed a piece of skin hanging from my black moors gills today and looked closer and there seems to be white/red sores all over her! On the beginning of her tail and her body where the body and tail meet. Also on her gill. I haven't noticed it on my other goldfish but in case it can spread I'd like to have it taken care of. It doesn't seem that the tail has been eaten away but it is a nasty looking sore… She's been hanging out at the top lately and not moving around much. She's also not been eating well and she's definitely been losing body mass. I admit my water conditions have been feisty lately and I cant seem to get them into an acceptable range as far as nitrates and such go. Should I administer an antibiotic or I'm not sure! Just a little advice?

It sounds like your goldfish is suffering badly! I would recommend a fish antibiotic and also some aquarium salt to help her sores heal quicker and less painfully. A good dosage is one teaspoon for every five gallons your aquarium holds. The red sores may be cuts or ammonia burns. Make sure that you maintain immaculate water quality, it's very easy for goldfish aquariums to become dirty and have buildups of ammonia/nitrites as goldfish are very messy. How many goldfish do you have? Fancy goldfish need at least 40g for the first pair and then an additional 10g for each added goldfish, common varieties need more, ponds are actually more suitable for them. I recommend removing your goldfish into a hospital tank if you have one, if not, it might be good to add in an aquarium divider.
Google "Ick on fish" and look at pictures and see if that looks like what your fish has. It's pretty common but if left untreated it can kill your fish.
i would put her in a hospital tank. and treat her. Source(s): i have goldfishes
It doesn't seem to be ick. The other fish may have taken a nibble out of her and a fungus has grown on the sores. It could be sucking marks made by leeches, which can be undetectable with a somewhat dirty tank. (My tank has been troublesome too XD so I'm not going to scrutinize you.)Below is the sight which tells the symptoms, what it is caused by, and how to treat it.
