   Best Answer – Chosen by Voters No, they are not required to pay for anything that is optional, they are required to pay for the rental car and that is all.

   No. That isn't their problem. If you feel you need the rental coverage, it's your choice to waive it or purchase it, but it's your responsibility to pay for it.

   Yeah when I got a rental from the other driver's insurance company they didn't pay for the rental insurance either, so I think that's normal. I didn't end up getting it though because I only need it for a couple of days.

   no…car rental insurance is optional, therefore, the insurance co will see it as not needed

   The other insurance company is not required to pay for "optional" insurance on the rental car. You are responsible for carrying insurance on the vehicles you drive, even rental cars. So if your geico policy doesn't transfer to the rental (which I don't know why it wouldn't) Then you have to pay the additional insurance on the rental.Sorry but thats how it goes.
