Should overweight people be allowed to sue?
Mcdonalds supersized options are gone. Rations are cut on menus across the nation and healthier alternatives are available. However, should an obese person be allowed to sue based upon their condition? Do you think it is the same as what the gays are going through with civil rights? Is obesity a choice or is it a form of neglect? Neglect meaning that the individual refuses to take care of themselves harmoniously? I watched the Tiara show a few days ago and the topic discussed women that were proud to be bbws and one woman became upset that she was not sexy enough to her husband because he wanted her bigger. I know there are some that are happy in their skin but should the issue be addressed when they feel threatened by society's thinness?

No-Just like a druggie shouldn't be allowed to sue their dealer. Its common sense that six buckets of food a day will make you fat. They just need to put the fork down and not blame everyone else.
NOthis is a free society with a free market, and mcdonalds has been FDA approved and people know the risks with **** foodto sue because something made you fat is retarded, mcdonalds doesnt appear at your doorstep with a gun saying "eat me", nobody was being forced, you need to take a lot of choices to order burgers everyday for years, it doesnt just, order, package, walk away from the restauran, unwrap and eat itself without you knowing.
No, it is common knowledge that eating too much food is going to make you fat. It is also common knowledge that in this day and era, fast food is not healthy. Those people are sad human beings. They dug their grave by eating that food (almost literally) now they need to lie in it and soak up their own shame. Fast food restaurants are business, they're not there to make you heathly, skinny individuals.
No! If the food makes you fatter, then don't eat it! God, it's that simple! Like for example I was in a restaurant and I went to go get some butter. It was replaced with low-fat butter because a woman had complained about it. I mean they could make alternatives, like a low fat Big Mac and a normal Big Mac
Yes they should. These corporations are not completely innocent here, they put all kinds of unhealthy and habit causing chmicals in their foods.
I think it is a very complicated situation that is not black and white. On one side, intellectually its pretty hard for someone to claim they dont know the risks of unhealty diet. On the other hand, knowing the risks intellectually and really knowing what those risks mean are two very very different things. I started smoking when I was 13. At 13, I knew cigs caused cancer, but I had absolutely NO understanding of what that really meant, and I wasnt worried about something that would happen when I was old and dieing anyways. I had no idea…. until I was diagnosed with cancer at 21 years old. For many obese people, its kind of the same thing with the health risks. Even though you may intellectually know the health risks of unhealthy food, you have no comprehension of what that means until its too late. But thats not even all of it. There actually ARE some people that were never taught how to eat healthy or how to read labels. How can they eat better if they dont know how? And then you have to think about deceptive labeling – labels can say an advertise 0 trans fat, but legally still have up to .5 grams trans fat per serving. About a year or so ago Applesbees settled out of court when an independent review board sampled their weight watchers menu, and found that the items had twice the amount of fat, sodium, cholesterol and calories than we advertised. Bad things are hidden under technical names that most people dont know in the ingredient list…. back to the trans fat, you have to look for something called hydrogenated oils in the ingredient list. And then, lets talk about cost of food. We have created a situation in which, first of all, over half of the people who call themselves middle class are actually functioning poor, and second, a situation where a majority of the functioning poor cant afford healthy food. We have used sugars and processed flours to stretch our food supply, as well as steroids in our live stock to stretch the food supply. All of that is unhealthy, adds to diet related health problems, as well as obesity. But if you cant pay 20$ for a serving of meet raised without steroids, then you are forced to eat unhealthy. If you cant pay for fresh produce and have to go with canned, thats more sugar and unhealthy additives. And then you have to count food addiction. Many obese people have used food as their drug of choice. How do you combat that without a lot of funding?Overall, I think there are some situations where I would support suit. However, it becomes a problem of who do you allow to sue, who do you not, and how do you fairly make a distinction? So in the end of all that, I would most often say no.
Ok, after watching Supersize me a couple of times for English class back in high school, really isn't making any changes. First of all think of it this way. People are consumers. We consume food. We should know what's best for us and what we should watch and what we can consume in our body. It is the persons fault for being overweight or called as "fat" because they are the one eating it. We have already learned and talked about what we should always watch whenever we eat, but some just chow down on everything. That's why they become "heavy" and they try to sue companies who are just making their business. Don't let commercials fool you. Such as McDonalds. Yea its good, but watch out for those calories.Everyone has every right to sue. Everyone has the right to speak what they want to say. But you may never win on suing McDonalds because I eat McDo…but I'm skinny size. Some people who are skinny eat McDo…(I eat a burger whenever I feel like eating eat, but I do not always have it cuz I have other foods to eat) some gain weight and others don't its not the companies fault. Its whoever + $$$ + fatty foods = whatever the results may be or it may be juz your body condition (having a disease)Everyone should love who they are as God made you and its just anybody who want to make a change in their life. Let them be. It's their life.
