Should I shop for better car insurance rates?
I am looking to buy a new car. It is a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. I live in Wisconsin, am 29, and have an excellent driving record. I need full coverage, and called my insurance agent (Progressive- which I've been with for over 12 years) and they said, for an average, about $500 every 6 months. Is this a little high or is this about average. Are there any other car insurance companies that might offer better rates?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters if it was me I'd call 10 insurers before accepting the one quote, sometimes more than that. Let's say I'll spend the whole of TWO hours calling around and it is always well worth it.
It all depends on what state you are in cause insurance companies have done research on what kind of driving is done in your state or area. Like what the other person said, i also live in NY and thats pretty good here, but maybe not in wisconsin. Always shop around it doesnt hurt to save a couple of hundred dollars.
finding the right policy can be strenuous but its hard to give an accurate quote because of all the different policies and they usually run your social security number to give you the correct price BUT i found these 2 sites where you can compare insurance at http://www.COMPAREusINSURANCE.com and http://www.COMPAREeQUOTES.com that give out the best comparisons for auto insurance, i hope that helps.
kelly825782003, I suggest you find a local auto insurance agent to assist you. Since I live in Kentucky I can't recommend anyone in Wisconsin, but here is an website that can help you. http://www.multipleautoinsurancequotes.c… Good Luck.
Best thing you can do is just to get a free online quote. This will compare all companies in Wisconsin and find the company that offers you the lowest price. You can get a free online quote at http://www.auto-insurance-knowledge.com/…

I don't know about Wisconsin – but for NYS that is cheap. Go online to Allstate and get a free rate quote – they have good rates in NYS.
