RE: Why should i defend my race?

I am a person who relates to people on the standpoints they tend to follow as an individual.
As an adolescent i struggled trying to figure out and fit in certain social cohesions, which was quite hard for me since i am a bi-racial person.
Experiences endured as an empiricist and a emphatic, i tend to analyze and separate fact from stigma.

This taught me to (by lack of a better word) judge people as an individual, i don't care what the color of your skin is, i don't mind if your a morally right person or a blatant racist.
I care about your motives i care for the WHY not the WHAT.
People are a products of society cause and effect, it is what mold them so in the end can you really hate for that? i don't think so, i do believe you can change, and don't get me wrong it can be a painful hard process, none the less worth the effort.

So on the following question "Culturally Speaking: Why should I defend my race?"
my answer was:

Never understood "race" i tend to relate with people on a individual base, long passed the phase where i tried to follow culture and relate because we have the same background.

I got thumbs down, am i to correct? do people not understand? or did i misinterpreted the question

Once again my apologies for my horrible English.

Greetings and a happy new year.
