PCOS – is it reversible?
I have darker patches of skin under my breasts, and have hair growth which isn't really "normal" (I don't have a moustache or beard though). I know that both of these are symptoms. I'm also rather overweight and I know that this has very strong links to PCOS. I don't want to go back to the doctor about it because it seems that they couldn't care less, but I want to try and improve my health.
I've recently started taking Cerazette (mini-pill), so I expect my periods to differ now, but I want to sort out my weight, and hopefully improve my skin, etc. Is PCOS reversible? If I got down to a healthy weight (I need to lose 6 to 7 stone to be an average weight – I'm currently a size 20 (UK) and would like to be a 12-14) would the symptoms disappear (or lessen)?

It's treatable rather than completely reversible. And you are right that losing weight will help. I am very surprised by your doctor's comment, as it is easily detectable with a test (hormone levels). I would advise you to go to a women's clinic if you have a confidential service that doesn't need a GP referral.
