My daughter got scabies from a cousin?
Well later that day I picked her up and it actually looked worse, a lot worse. I Called the pcp, they said to just give her an antihistamine and keep using lotion.. so next day.. even worse.. thats when I went to the ER i wasn't playing anymore.
They diagnosed her with scabies. .. I then was told to go to a take care clic myself (since it was sat) to get check.. i do NOT have it, so.. i call her dad.. let him know and later he calls to tell me that his niece has it.. so obvious;y this is where she got it from..
Im so unbelievably upset 'bout the whole thing b/c of all people im the on with the a germ-phobia! im just disgusted by the thought of this. I tore my whole house apart .. clothes/sheets in hot water – carpet cleaned..toys in a bag..lysol.. the whole thing.
She was given treatment.. on sat.. we used it .. its now thursday and it doesn't seem to be improving, its actually going to her face. I called the pcp and they haven't returned my call yet..
is this normal ??! Im worried That she is being reinfected by someone over there..
(btw he did the deep cleaning as well)

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters After treatment, it can take up to 4 weeks for the rash and itchiness to disappear. Re-infection is possible, but not very likely, especially if everyone in both households has been treated. Scabies is more common in crowded living conditions and tend to be worse in situations when bathing isn't done very often. This does not mean that it is impossible for clean people living in non-crowded situations to get scabies. The mite that causes scabies can not hop or fly so nearly always there has to be transmission from human to human by skin-to-skin contact. Rarely, but possibly, the mites can be spread indirectly through clothing or linen so the thorough cleaning you have done in both houses is a good thing. The itching and rash from scabies does not usually show up for 10-30 days after contact with the mite. At this point in time, since your daughter has just had the treatment on Sunday, she is likely going to have continuing problems for at least a couple weeks. If she is still having problems after 4 weeks than you should see the doctor again. Don't give her another treatment without a doctor's instructions as too frequent use of the medication can cause serious problems.
I worked in a pharmacy for several years and it was a fairly common thing to have (second to head lice). Doctors would prescribe a cream that had to be put all over the body, every inch of the skin, and it would kill the scabies. Did they direct you to apply it all over her? They can travel up to areas that haven't been covered in the cream. That's all I know. I would call the doctor if you have any more questions. I would be looking it up too on Wikipedia or somewhere.
I had this when I was in high school. You get it from physical contact with another person…. For those who don't know, scabies are an insect that burrows into the skin like a parasite. I would question what these two girls were doing for your daughter to contract it because the most common way to get it is through physical contact, including sexual contact (bodies rubbing together). I'm not saying this is the only way to contract it, but that is how I did (not actual intercourse, but rubbing bodies). I was given a perscription (pill and a cream). It took me several months to be completely rid of it. It was itchy and very, very irritating. But with treatment, this will go away. I don't think you'll have to worry about infection unless she's scrating the sores open like kids often do with mosquito bites.
