My car was hit, why am I not being reimbursed for the rental car insurance?
The other person has an insurance with Farmer's and they agreed to pay for everything except rental car insurance, they say it's an option that is not a requirement for me to drive the rental car so they won't take the cost. Is this correct?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters If you were not at fault, and their insured was, they should certainly pay for your rental, they should have figured it in with the repairs when they decided if it was worth fixing or not.If the other guy elected not to take rental insurance on the policy, that is his problem and has nothing to do with an accident when he is at fault. They SHOULD give you a rental and are likely required to by law.Check your local laws to be sure.
if you are 100% not at fault for the accident, then you can get a rental when your vehicle goes into the repair shop. if your vehice is "driveable" meaning that no lights are broken and can be safe to drive, the you are supposed to drive it until the shop gets the parts in to fix it. once you drop your vehicle off for its repair, then you can get into a rental car. True. They won't cover that. And neither will your insurance. That's an option that YOU picked, and isn't covered. Sorry.
Yes, Additonal insurance purchased from the rental agency is not covered by the insurance company.
