Lump is hard and painful inside front bottom of right side of lower lip.?
I noticed this lump only about a week ago……it hurts when I put my finger in my mouth and press hard down on it. It doesn't hurt without touching it. It is under the skin. It feels like it is thick and wide along the bottom of the inside of the front part of the mouth (an inch long), then the tip of the lump narrows up to the gum.
Should I see my primary care physician or a dentist? I am a hypochondriac and think I have oral cancer. Help?
I don't have gum disease and my dental care is up to date. I was at the dentist a short while ago, and there is no dental work left to be done. My mouth is immaculate. I was tested a few years ago and had no oral cancer.
Has anyone else had anything like this appear out of the blue???????

You could have a mucocele formed in the lip. These are not serious and sometimes resolve by themselves. It does not sound like any type of oral cancer, so you should stop worrying about that, but I would let the dentist take a look at it. good luck. Source(s): I'm a dentist
quit pressing down hard on it. then it wont hurt anymore.
See your dentist. It might be where you bit your lip and sometimes calcium deposits form as the body's way of "healing" itself…making that place tougher in case you bite there again.
