Is the way the look (ugly / beautiful) mostly in your control?
I was just wondering is how ugly or beautiful you are mostly in your control?
Am 16 and to be honest when I look in the mirror I don't really like what I see but sometimes I think I look ok… and this got me thinking. If you take care of yourself and get tanned and spike your hair do those things make a girl attracted to you? Don't worry I understand beauty lies within but I thought the better I think I look the better my mood, confidence and self esteem is
. I was thinking about this one day and I thought, wait, if someone thinks they ugly they will have a low self esteem and won't take good care to look good, but if they do they'll put effort in to look they best all the time. Like for example, I used to only shave once a week now I do 3 times a week, I wear designer clothes, I spike up my hair, I wear a chain and take care of my skin, now don't get me wrong im not stupid but I don't think I used to do this because I thought I was ugly and didn't believe in myself to put any effort into looking good but im fine now.
So, Are looks mainly to do with things that you can change (have control of) like spiking your hair and getting tanned and stuff, or is it the shape of your face and nose and eyes etc?
Thanks so much

The way you style yourself is in your complete control.Let's say you don't have the prettiest bone structure, if you make your hair nice and beautiful, dress nicely, and do a good job on applying your makeup, you can look a million times better. Have some confidence in yourself and you will also look much better.
Yes you can control them things which make you look better. However real beauty is natural and you can't change it. (without plastic surgery anyway) so if a ugly guy spiked his hair up and tanned, and so did a hot guy then the hot guy would still look the best… but the ugly one would look better. Get it?
It depends who you're trying to impress. Modeling agency will not car for 'chains' and 'spiked hair'. They look for high jaw bones, e.t.c. However ignorant schoolgirls seem to be impressed by the hedge hog look !!
i think people shuld put effort into how they look because its what makes you feel good. looks are based on your features but tanning and spiking your hair are enhancers. Source(s): hope i helped.

some of it comes from genetics– bright eyes, strong, chiseled jaw line. but what you have can be improved upon or altered by things like makeup, surgery and basic hygene, and yes, these things can be affected by your mood. someone with higher self esteem will take better care of themselves and therefore look better thanks to makeup and TLC.also you should consider what we are programmed to think is beautiful. evolution has engineered women to be more attracted to taller, muscular men because it means better protection for them and their children. likewise, men are programmed to be more attracted to women with long hair and curves because they are indications of fertility and good health. on the other hand, current media has ingrained an image of what 'beautiful' is into our minds– tan, stick skinny and blonde. So in short, looks are something that can be manipulated to be more pleasing, so yes, you are in control to some point. But the genetics that determine your face shape, height and other things also provide unconcious markers about your genetic worth to potential partners that in short help them gauge how attractive you are– and you cannot change your genes.
