Is Proactiv solution really good for your face?
I am starting to break out more than usual, with a huge bump that comes in just the right spot at the wrong time:( Now for about 2 years I have been using just plain ol Dove and water, but I wanna try and use maybe some kind of like skin care cream! I have been thinking about using Proactiv solution…I have really sensitive skin and it's pretty clear, I just want something for those little bumps that ruin everything!!!! Thanks in advance!!

Proactive is really bad for your skin. It dries it out, and will actually bleach your skin and eyebrows (it even says so on the product!!). Using a soap like dove is very bad for your skin as well. It is not made to cleanse your face, which is very different from the skin on the rest of your body. The skin on your face is a lot more sensitive, so you have to be careful what you use on it. You should go to a clinique counter near you (sears, the bay, holt renfrew, the shoppers drug marts with a beauty boutique all sell clinique). A constultant there can fully evaluate your skin and help you find a skincare routine that is custom-fit to you. Make sure to mention that you have very sensitive skin, and if they recommend the acne solution line, say no, because it is bad for people with overly sensitive skin. Instead, they will probably recommend the regular three step system for combination oily skin (again, depending on how you answer certain skin-typing questions..it could be you are dry combination, or even very oily). The 3-step consists of a cleanser, clarifying lotion (to tone and exfoliate), and an oil-free moisturizer. You can get the 3 products for 49.50 (cdn) for the smaller sizes, which is a great way for you to get started. You just need a GOOD daily routine for you skin, and it will help to control the excess oil which causes breakouts. And all Clinique products are allergy tested and frangrance free, so it's perfect for sensitive skin : ) Source(s): clinique consultant
Proactiv has an addictive agent in it, so once you start using it, you're blemishes may or may not go away, but your skin will get addicted to it. That means that if you stop using it, you will break out more often and worse than you did before. That's just a warning, so keep that in mind, and try to find other cleaners rather than an acne treatment. Since its just little bumps and stuff, not a major problem that you've had for a while, I suggest not going to a method that severe acne sufferers use. I tend to use anything Aveeno puts out because I have very sensitive skin and it is one of the few things that I'm not allergic to. Well I can honestly say I tried proactive and it didn't make much of a difference for me, it just dried out my face alot and the proactive repair lotion didnt help at all! But for a lot of my friends it worked wonders so I guess it depends on the person and skin type. Although I use the refining mask ALL the time, that is the only thing that works to take away my tiny bumps over night! I suggest you try it no harm in that.
