If you are driving your car FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES, you need commercial insurance. If involved in an accident while driving on company business, your personal policy may deny coverage. Read your policy, it will have a clause governing business use of a personal vehicle.

well this is probably an issue with your companies policies. I'm willing to bet your company insures anyone it lets drive on its own so that it doesn't have to worry about you while you're on the clock. I'm also willing to bet your company has a policy to only insure drivers that have very few if any points on their license. It's not a matter of you and an insurance company as much as it is with you and your companies insurance policies.

Yes, it makes perfect sense. As your employer they can set limits on what you can, and can't do. If they have a rule that states you can't drive a company vehicle or use your own vehicle for company business with a driving history not acceptable to them, and it applies to all employees so as not to discriminate against you, you can't use your car. No, there is no way around it.You *might* be able to put commercial insurance on your vehicle acceptable to your employer, but that would be high, and at your own cost, so it would not be practical.

Read your policy; every private auto insurance policy I have ever read explicitly excludes coverage while using the vehicle for other than personal business.

Unfortunately, no. You see, because their underwriters won't insure you, you can't use a company vehicle. They cannot allow you to use your own insurance either. They are ultimately liable for your actions. They could be sued for letting you even drive your own vehicle in the event of an accident. The way around it? First stop getting tickets! Second, inquire to your state motor vehicle entity as to how to drop some of the points in exchange for defensive driving.Hope this helps....
