Is it worth buying a LEGALLY unlocked iphone?
I wanted to know if it is worth the extra money to buy a legally unlocked iphone from websites like buy0o0com or mobilecityonline0o0com. I already have AT&T and don't plan to switch carriers. I want to be able to tether or share my internet connection from my iphone with my laptop and I know if I get an iPhone through AT&T I wouldn't be able to so. Also would I still have to pay $30 a month for the unlimited data usage? I currently have a Nokia N95 8gb and AT&T only charges me $15 a month for unlimited data. I bought this phone unlocked as well not through AT&T.

No because apple is coming with an update to re-unlock all iphones so it basically becomes useless. Source(s): i work at apple store.
For your stated purpose, no. A factory unlocked phone will not allow you to tether. First, it's going to be specifically prohibited by your AT&T contract regardless of the phone you use. Second, tethering is not possible unless the phone is jailbroken. A factory unlocked iPhone is not jailbroken. The $30/month data plan is required regardless of whether your iPhone is jailbroken or unlocked. Source(s): jailbroken and unlocked iPhone owner
