Is Britain more racist toward Roma Gypsies than America?
In the U.S many of my own people (a little over 2,000,000) reside in the U.S, employment opportunities are excellent, social integration is easy, and there's many opportunities for further education, such as you can get into university on a scholarship.
There is very little discrimination over there, it does exist, but not to the extent of which is faced by Roma each day in Europe.
Remember before you post a reply, I an not an Irish Traveller (who are NOT roma) and Roma now live in houses (after a long battle with local authorities to get a house)
Here in Britain it's difficult , if you apply for a job, you get a racial equality form with the application, we cant put on it "Roma" we have to give another race, if some of us are fairer skinned, we can just barely get by by saying we're British.
Police forces DO NOT protect the Roma when violence is targeted at them here in Britain, so when we take the law, that very same law that supposed to protect us into our own hands and hit back , we get branded criminals.
In Britain things are heating up.
Ostracized, demoralised, demonized, chastized and socially out-casted from British society, yet I read in the paper how Britain cares, I know it could be worser and I thank the loving LORD what I have but how can they say this?
What is your view, whose more racist the U.K or U.S?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters I don't think it's right to say that Roma/Romany/Gypsies don't get discriminated in the US. I'm sure if the background of the Gypsies were known, then there would be a problem. The issue in Britain is that we Travellers still live a traditional nomadic lifestyle and are visible. It sounds like you have given up this way of life and have blended from what I have read.I'm sure, if the whole population of Romany Gypsies up sticks and moved into trailers, then you would have most of the US refusing you from accessing services, employment, more open racist media and so on. It's is not as simple as you make out
Just a thought. And yes, I am an Irish Traveller, although my mother is Welsh Romany
