   Best Answer – Chosen by Voters because cosmetics/body care are regulated by the FDA and not the USDA there is no legal organic standard for such products (unlike food and fiber which are regulated by the USDA). This means there are a lot of soaps, lotions, shampoos, make up etc.,that have the word organic on the label but have zero organic ingredients as well as ingredients that would be banned from a true organic producthttp://www.organicconsumers.org has a lot of information about this topic including a list of who is and who is not organic in the body care realmpersonally the best soaps i have used are Dr bronnoer's peppermint and a local farmer makes this incredible soap out of goats milk and lye and since i have been using it I rarely get dry skin (When I do it is because I have had my hands in something drying like clay-I farm for a living so this happens). if you can find 100% shea butter that makes a great skin cream and lip balm.Most commercial soaps have drying agents in them to keep them from becoming slerm in the soap dish and those agents dry out skin badly (which sells a lot of lotions usually made by the same company)
