If my house is infested with fleas why can't i find them on my cat?
I've tried the pan with soapy water and light source, i searched her for flea dirt and for fleas and i never can find any. but i found one on me. and i have a few bites so i guess that means my house is infested.. i am allergic to them and i have a newborn and i just dont know what to do anymore.. the sound of infested really upsets me .. i just cant stand the thought of my house over run with fleas. ive done everything.. shes on a flea treatment from the bet, ive shampooed and vacummed the entire house washed all the clothes .. i dont want to set bombs off because of my newborn. and the powder im putting on my carpet is strong. I just need a easy way to get rid of them.. the emotional stress of taking care of my newborn and worrying with a flea problem is driving me insane.. literally. i a really allergic so when they bite me i am miserable.. but i cant seem to prove they are in my house .. i tried white socks on the carpet.. white blankets.. my cat actually has really clean skin. i cant find a flea on her… im so confused. I just need a solution that will work.. no bs.

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters Do you have advantage on her? The fleas might be just living on the carpet and not her. So if so then that's it.
Hope this Helps! What you could do is vacuum you floor, bed, couches, etc. Every day and night for about a week and put all your cloths and blankets in the dryer for about 15-20 minuets. Then wash your carpet with cheap carpet cleaner. That should get rid of the fleas (since i think they are just kinda living in the carpet.) but Fleas have to eat the blood from a cat so they must just jump on her every once and a while then when they are about to die from the advantage they jump off her and lay eggs. They can live about 2 weeks without food and they multiply faster then that. So just do the tips i gave you and it should get rid of them and the eggs.

Check her for fleas this way: get a paper towel, hold it under her, and scratch her vigorously. If any dirt falls onto the paper towel, wet it with paper and scrape it with your nail. If your cat has fleas, this will become a red (blood) streak. If so, treat your cat with revolution and then vaccuum and shampoo the house. If your cat has fleas, doing this without treating her will do nothing since they are living on her and just dropping eggs on the floor.
what color is the cat's fur and skin. I have 3 cats, an all black, a tort and a white and grey. I can only ever see fleas on the white one. Set the cat on a white piece of cloth – towel or sheet etc. and comb it with a flea comb. You may not see a flea but if she's got fleas you'll see the flea dirt (poop) little black specks.
I heard fleas like the taste of dog blood more than cats. So if you have a dog they will feed on it. Try looking into boric acid.
(1) Get rid of all the animals in the house — dogs, cats, fish, turtles, birds. Drop them of at the ASPCA. It is not worth the health of you and your family to have the animals in the house.(2) Call an exterminator, explain the situation, and ask for a whole house process.(3) You will have to take all of the food out of your cupboards, put them on the counter, and cover them with sheets or plastic tarps (that you will later launder). Take your husband and your children to a motel room for two days while the poison evaporates.(4) Realize that your most important worry is about the health of your husband and your children — not some animals.(5) Get your priorities straight for the future. Do what is best for your family — not just what you want to do — like have a pet.Good luck.
