I think my dog might be… mentally disabled?
She bites me a lot, everyday, anywhere and anytime. (Except when she just woke up/she's in her playpen) I notice she likes to bite me whenever I come out of a room, or exit the toilet. (She dislikes my grandfather a lot and since he uses that toilet, perhaps… she doesn't like it?) Also, whenever I am near the door when someone leaves home, she will turn around abruptly and bite me like there's no tomorrow, when I didn't even move a single bit.
One minute she's friendly and wagging her tail, the next split second, she starts to attack my legs and hands. I tried to use a very bad method–hitting her hard. But she doesn't even respond to those hits. And I felt that hitting a dog isn't a good way to discipline. (Don't throw those clichĂ©d "Spare the rod and spoil the child" phrases at me) It worked for her humping problem last time though.
So I tried the next method–which was standing still whenever she bites me. (I read it off the net) This was extremely hard for me because when she bites my feet I find it unbearable as my feet are quite sensitive. I would try to lower my hands down subtly so she would bite them instead but she'll just switch back to my feet shortly after.
Okay, so I just slightly suspect her of being mentally disabled. But does someone have an explanation of her behaviour? It really hurts me when people call her crazy and retarded when she randomly starts biting, so I would really, really LOVE to solve this problem ASAP.

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters Oh for heavens sake! This isn't rocket science and this isn't a mental disorder! It is an untrained brat of a dog.Put a leash on her, accompany with it with a well fitted pinch or choke collar, next time her teeth touch skin, yank her up off her feet.Do this right the first time and you can say goodbye to the 'mental disorder'!
Try soaking your hands in a solution of water and a lot of cayenne pepper; Make it pretty hot, then just let her bite away. This will usually work, if it doesn't then maybe you should hire a trainer.
Why do you even tolerate such behavior. She's evidently looking down upon you as her subordinate. Show her who's boss. You should always establish top dog status to every animal you welcome into your home.
You should try bringing her to a trainor or obedeint school..
Get her checked for ADD. A vet can give her meds for any in-balances she may have!
I'm sorry but it sounds like your dog is inbred
Contact vet specialist or any good dog handler.he will surely help you
No, your dog isn't mentally disabled. It seems like your dog wants to be the boss around the house. The fact that she bites you when you come out of the room or exit a toilet shows that she doesn't want you in there. She thinks that the room and the toilet is hers and no one else should be touching it. When you are near the door when someone leaves home shows that she wants to be the one to guard the door, not you. You have to train her and show her that you and your family members are the boss around here. When she's about to bite say, "No!"
Never never ever hit your dog again. I can show you how to train your dog using distraction. You are trying to stop her violence by being violent. Does that make any sense? Her behavior is only because you have not taught her not to bite that that is all, there are no mental problems, at least not on the part of the dog. since she was rescued, you don't know her backgound. She mostlikely was taken away from her mother at a very early age. Because of this she never learned how to act nicly, or which mouthing is too hard. If you want to fix this, I would seriously concider a dog trainer. Source(s): Lots of professionals
