I have a mole that changed colors..?
I am meeting with a general surgeon this week..but I was wondering if it is skin cancer is it automatically melanoma since its 2 different colors?
Im really nervous…if the doctor does a biopsy how long does it take for the results?
Thank you!

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters Do get it checked. Just my experience, doctors are more worried about two-toned moles if part of it is super dark brown/almost black. I've had basal cell carcinoma and had about a half-dozen moles biopsied. The biopsy will be easy. They inject a little anesthetic into you skin (small prick), then shave the top of the mole off with a razor and then cauterize it to stop the bleeding. It'll lightly sting for a couple of hours. The biopsy results should come back in a week or so. Good luck! Source(s): I've had basal cell carcinoma skin cancer and my husband has had melanoma.
You have taken the right step – get it checked out by a qualified dermatologist. It is hard to tell whether it is cancerous without biopsy. The change of color could be due to the stretch of the skin that makes it lighter, or it could signal something serious. All the best to you. Source(s): http://facialmoleremoval.org
I am glad you are getting it checked out. If the mole is spreading wider, it would be natural for the new growth to be lighter. It takes about 4 business days to get the results. Source(s): Stage IV melanoma
The first thing that popped in my mind was melanoma, also. No one could tell you for sure besides a doctor, though. Go get it checked out asap!
