I got a new tattoo and i have a few questions.?
so i did some research and i got the basics of cleaning off the plasma and blood after the bandages are removed, but im not sure of what to use for lotion or why to bother with lotion at all, when i get a nasty scrape or deep wound i just let it heal without any help, never had any problems with infection and what not, so why can't i do the same with my tattoo? it heals in basically the same manner as any other skin wound.
also the only lotions i have are all scented and contain some form of alcohol or colouration, i have no more money and won't have any until after the 28th, so im looking for other things to use, the same goes for antibacterial soap, i ain't got none.
is my tattoo pretty much doomed or is the lotion and antibacterial soaps just for cleaniness' sake, i don't worry about bacteria (my immune system does that) and infections (same for these), i have a past of scarification and i have never had to worry about any infections or fevers, my body is good at fighting those things.
any help for me?
tl;dr, i need to know what to use if i have nothing that is unscented/uncolored, and no money, and if i even need to actually worry about that stuff.

right, you have to clean and wash your tattoo three times a day and then reduce the cleaning as it heals.the effect of getting a tattoo is the same is a third degree burn on your skin.i used preparation h or bepanthen (nappy rash cream), use unscented creams. not cleaning your tattoo right will effect the colour in the tattoo and an infected tattoo is a hell of a thing to have.no do recover your tattoo once you take off the bandages, do not get swimming till fully healed and do not pick as your tattoo scabs over. must tattoos scab over and flake off during healing, totally normal.you need the lotion to protect the colour and the your skin. Yes, you need to worry about it. You need to keep it moist with Bacitracin or Neosporin. Whether it is bleeding or not doesn't matter, it is going to scab over. If you do not keep it moist, it will not end up looking as good as it does now. If you had enough money to get a tat, you have enough to get a tube of ointment.
warm water and anti-MICROBIAL soap are the perfect combination, i would personally use anti-microbial over anti-bacterial, i have 11 tattoos, and the ones that i use microbial on seem to have little to no irritation and heal a little faster. just wash your new tattoo at least three times a day, try not to do it more than 3 though because you can dry out your skin and thats no bueno.and like you somewhat mentioned do not use anything scented, that will f u c k your s h i t up faster than you would believe. AND STAY AWAY FROM all natural crap, that hippy BS got one of my tattoos infected and it had to almost be completely re-done.You should be fine with just warm water and soap, unless you are a plumber or work in totally crappy conditions, i wouldnt worry about it.dont listen to the first poster, Neosporin should never be used on tattoos, tattoos are an internal wound that needs to heal from the inside out, neosporin heals the external wound and can cause your tattoo to drain itself of color and look very akward. just go to any tattoo parlour and buy the cream off them, if u cant then just get some lanolin cream or vitamin e cream. All it does is help it heal.basically in a few days the scab will become very itchy…do not scratch or else u will ruin the tattoo. the cream helps with the itchyness as wellhope this helps x
