I AM NEW TO WORLD OF WARCRAFT – HELP PLEASE!?
OK, so I intend to get World of Warcraft with all 3 expansion packs. But I need help with creating / developing my character.
Note: Please DON’T USE ABBREVIATIONS in your answers; I do not know what most of them mean.
Here are my PREFERENCES / DECISIONS so far:
SERVER:
I want to play W.O.W like a normal game, as if I am this character in a fantasy world, without others players trying to battle me all the time. I will therefore choose PVE or PVRpg. Correct me if I am wrong.
CLASS:
After a while of research I have come to like the look and idea(s) of playing as a DRUID or a SHAMAN. What do you think is better? Not necessarily objectively, but best for a new player? Best for playing alone?
RACE:
I have no particular preference, but which RACIAL TRAITS do you think are best for a DRUID and/or a SHAMAN? This includes the new (CATACLYSM) DRUID & SHAMAN compatible races – Although I don’t think the racial traits of the WORGEN etc have been made known, but nevertheless …
FACTION:
Again, I don’t really care. I have heard there are more douche-bags in THE ALLIANCE but I will be on my own so that is irrelevant.
PROFESSIONS:
I would like to be quite self-sufficient. It seems obvious to go for SKINNING & LEATHERWORKING so I can make my own armour, but what do you think is best for a DRUID and/or SHAMAN when making money, armour etc.?
PLAYING STYLE:
I want to do a bit of everything, hence the CLASS choices. But other than that I will be more offensive both with spells and physical attacks, than curative / healing.
TALENT TREES:
If I was to go down one of the three TALENT TREES for each CLASS, which should I pick for a DRUID and/or SHAMAN? However, it is often said that DRUIDS/SHAMANS are ‘jacks-of-all-trades’ so should I do a bit everywhere? Or focus on one? As I said, my play-style will more offensive but I want to heal myself well.
STATS:
What STATS should I focus on when it comes to equipping weapons or armour for a DRUID and/or SHAMAN?
And finally, could those of you who answer please give more than a link or 3 word answer, refrain from just linking me to another site with loads of information and give a concise and reasoned account for your answers.
Anyway, thanks to anyone who can help!
And just to point out! – I would like those of you who don't like W.O.W or think it is 'gay' or just plain crap to avoid making any comments. I know what I am doing and I won't be paying every month for it, so when I am not playing, I won't be paying. I won't be addicted and I do have a life & a boyfriend. It will be like any other game to me. Get a grip!

Yes, You will be choosing PvE if you don't want other plays to run up and kill you.As for class, During end game being a shaman will have lots of benefits (Blood Lust / Heroism : Increases attack, cast and range speed by 30%) People are always looking for Shamans for raids on my server (Shattered Halls) However getting to 80 is a task and i personally don't see leveling a shaman as EASY. If your looking for the easy route make a paladin and spec protection and level that way.Racial Stats for a Shaman, Considering your choices are Orc and Troll ( cough horde is all that matters ) The Orc can grand you alot of spell power / attack power at 80 as a racial and a Troll can grant you mini Bloodlust. So both are pretty good. For a Drood, you can only be a Tauren, which their racial is war stomp which is not good in my opinion unless your a Tauren Warrior or Death knight.Specs for Shaman All are good, all are needed. Go elemental for leveling.Drood Restoration is needed but level as feral
And stats, if you really wanna know what stats you want im going to need to knowWhat spec you pick cause that goes alot more into detail for mitigation, armor penatration etc etc.

PVE is definitely the best way to play IMO.For playing alone, I recommend the Warrior or Hunter classes.Druids and Shamans are OK but not good at melee combat (They are better at fighting from a distance, but while levelling, most of the mobs attacking you will be close up)Don't get me wrong, the classes like Druids, Shamans, Mages etc are sought after the the higher levels as part of tanks, but not the best for solo levelling. In terms of race, I have always played Human, and it's always worked for me.Faction – I have always played Alliance, contrary to what you have heard, I have heard that Horde is generally full of kids (I am in my mid 20's) but I suppose both factions would attract them. One thing I have heard however, is that Horde are stronger at the PVP instances, however I don't know how true that is.Professions – The best professions are Mining and Blacksmithing, as these make you the most money. For the rest of your question, that would be best decided when you have decided what type of character you want to make, after which a simple google search on the race/class of your character will help you further.Hope this helps. I've been playing for about a year and a half. I play it when I can be bothered as I have a fulltime job, partner, friends, and all that other stuff!
