I am beginning to think that the founding fathers have failed us, how about you?
I believe it was Madison who argued that the more diverse and numerous the factions, the less likely we are to realize the tyranny of a majority. One thing went out the window almost immediately. The ease of polarizability of American politics. This wasn't so bad in the beginning, for we had so many great leaders intent on making it work. Yet it very nearly failed 80 years later with the Civil War.
This problem lives with us today. Not only that, adding to it are the existence of large groups and swaths of Americans adopting and promoting retarded self-interested and worse 'spooked herd' ideologies as modern conservatards do today. How to make a system that has checks and balances for dummies? This is the modern legacy we all face.
Difference between the left and the right: Political philosophy of the right is based on naive, dim-witted beliefs (crapitalism = good, socialism bad. Run out of oil, no worries, 'god' will make more. Paper/electronic IOU's are more important than organic IOU's because 'god' told them so.) The left recognizes facts. The finitude of natural resources, the need to promote real ingenuity instead of deifying it or outright blocking it. That crapitalism and socialism are not 'people', but concepts and there is no inherent good/evil in either; and both can be used for unimaginable evils or good, depending on the political climate.
Stop getting all hung up on labels and thin-skinned about being called names (IOW recognize your own hypocrisy in this matter) and start using the empty space between your ears. I personally couldn't care less if you call me names; it is irrelevant. I might even laugh about it if I thought any of you had a point. Quick responses will be quickly ignored.

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters No their ideas haven't failed us. Breaking from their ideas is what's failed us. This country looks nothing like how it was supposed to. We've got a federal government that's gone way beyond the scope of powers granted to it by the Constitution and we've got big business and government in bed together. If that's what you think the Founders envisioned for our country, then I guess we can credit it to our failing education system.?
Since you and I both know YOU would fight kicking and screaming against any legislative proposal that was NOT plainly unConstitutional, your rant once again proves "special" things about you.
as you "personally couldn't care less" whether people call you names I will propose that the founding fathers would have thought you a ninny
you said the left recognizes facts. Funny. Global warmignand transparency are the first 2 things I think of.
We failed them, but I am not sure they didnt see this coming. What else could we have done?A republic, if you can keep it. — Ben Franklin
The Conservatives will take back the country for the people, and for the founders. We're soon sending the Socialists, Marxists, and left-wing nut-jobs packing. Coakley in Massachusetts will possibly be only the first of many Democrats defeated this year. Even if Brown doesn't pull out this election, liberals had best take note of the numbers. Obama told Democrats to "Put on your walking shoes, and help Martha Coakley succeed". He should have told them to put on their walking shoes it's a long walk home!
No the founding fathers set up a system that worked for many years. The problems came about when people thought that they knew more than the founding fathers and have changed what they wanted.Less government and more involvement by the people. Since 1900s it has been the government knows more than the people and the people need the government to take care of everyone. In the last 30 years the people have believed that the government is the all in all and that they need to do nothing. Bigger government and less private sector of jobs is making this country fall deeper and deeper into something that the founding fathers fought against.
The founding fathers have not failed us. Future interpretations and a movement away from the covenants of the Constitution and amendments have failed us. There were plenty of checks and balances before the unneeded over expansion of the federal government. The founding fathers could not have foreseen us creating an agency with almost no oversight like the EPA or Czars that work for the president but can create and implement law thus avoiding the congress.
the founding fathers haven't failed us. if you read there writings both in the constitution as well as there personal journals. you would know they had it right. it was the people after them that failed. all the bungling came after the fathers thanks to people coming along and wanting to "fix" things and in many cases just ignoring the fathers and the constitution. like when pelosi was asked were the constitution said she can mandate everyone buy a product to exist. she couldn't and said it wasn't a real question. but to "fix" the fact she doesn't have that power she is just going to add things the fathers didn't put in.
No, the Founding Fathers and Documents have served us well and made America the greatest nation on earth. The failure is due to corrupt, power seeking politicians and an ignorant, uninformed, entitlement mentality electorate.Your statement that the "left recognizes fact" is proof enough as to the cause of the country's problems.
No, we failed them.Today the Democrats steadfastly insist that the Constitution contains an "elastic clause," which allegedly permits Congress to ignore the Constitution any time they want to.They are misinterpreting (intentionally) the Necessary and Proper clause. Alexander Hamilton specifically explained this clause in the Federalist Papers, because at the time there were fears that some misguided future generations would misinterpret this clause exactly as the Democrats are doing today. The Necessary and Proper clause is written as plain as day, but the Democrats have this selective eyesight so they can see ony the words they want to see and disregard the rest.So the Democrats are misinterpreting the Necessary and Proper clause exactly as the Federalist Papers specifically said it should not be interpreted.Democrats just feel free to ignore anything that is inconvenient.Ultimately the Supreme Court will have to read the plain English of the Constitution to the Demcrats, and then the Obama supporters will all express their outrage by holding mass public protest demonstrations with riots and looting.Of course now we have the wise Latina woman who more often than not might reach a better conclusion than some dusty old Constitution that was written by a bunch of old white (haired) men…Democrats spit on the Constitution and then act all self righteous about it.Then they have race riots if they don't get their way.It is pathetic and disgusting.
