I am beginning to think that the founding fathers have failed us, how about you?

I mean look, the system they gave us avoids many types of problems but doesn't include checks and balances or a ways to contain the 'spooked herds' and other dumb regressive groups that is the modern republican party.

I believe it was Madison who argued that the more diverse and numerous the factions, the less likely we are to realize the tyranny of a majority. One thing went out the window almost immediately. The ease of polarizability of American politics. This wasn't so bad in the beginning, for we had so many great leaders intent on making it work. Yet it very nearly failed 80 years later with the Civil War.

This problem lives with us today. Not only that, adding to it are the existence of large groups and swaths of Americans adopting and promoting retarded self-interested and worse 'spooked herd' ideologies as modern conservatards do today. How to make a system that has checks and balances for dummies? This is the modern legacy we all face.

Difference between the left and the right: Political philosophy of the right is based on naive, dim-witted beliefs (crapitalism = good, socialism bad. Run out of oil, no worries, 'god' will make more. Paper/electronic IOU's are more important than organic IOU's because 'god' told them so.) The left recognizes facts. The finitude of natural resources, the need to promote real ingenuity instead of deifying it or outright blocking it. That crapitalism and socialism are not 'people', but concepts and there is no inherent good/evil in either; and both can be used for unimaginable evils or good, depending on the political climate.

Stop getting all hung up on labels and thin-skinned about being called names (IOW recognize your own hypocrisy in this matter) and start using the empty space between your ears. I personally couldn't care less if you call me names; it is irrelevant. I might even laugh about it if I thought any of you had a point. Quick responses will be quickly ignored.
