How to take care of a foot scrape?
9 days ago I slipped in the street (asphalt). I sanitized the wound, put antibiotic, went to the doctor, bandaged it for a couple of days, the whole works. Now, 9 days later, the infection went down (it really burned in the beginning) and new skin is coming. But I am not sure if I should shower or not? It is a regular scrape, nothing too deep or severe. The last doctor I saw didn't say anything about showering or not, she just said put antibiotic on it, and that's it, and she removed the bandange and asked me to air it as much as possible, and wear flip flops.
Is it ok to shower?
How will it look when it heals? Like a burn scar?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters Yes, shower. If it still has scabs etc you might not want to soak it for a long time, like in a bath, but showering and soaping all up and patting the injury dry will only help.As for the scar, it will look like lighter skin for a while, maybe for a long time. Any dents or nicks will smooth out. It wasn't a burn so although tissue was scraped away, the surrounding tissue was not damaged, like happens in a burn. So everything should eventually smooth out and look normal, except maybe a lighter color than the surrounding skin. Source(s): experience
