Hi,Good post. I had some problems with my car after I had an accident. My Insurer wanted to raise my rates $525 a year! I've never even gotten a speeding ticket! I lived in california when I turned 16 and got my own car. On my moms insurance, I paid about $125 a month. If I would have got my own policy I would have paid atleast $300 per month. Try going on your parents insurance and they will get a discount for an additional car as well. If you have good grades you can get another discount. After 1 year with no accidents there is a good driver discount as well. Good luck.

I am in the same boat only I am getting insurance on a red ford cougar (sports car). As an occasional driver on my moms insurance it will be somewhere around $200-$400 a year. If you plan on going on the car, just you then you're looking at about $3000 a year. If you share with a parent it will be cut down significantly and you will pay about $200-$400 a year maybe more.
