How do people "save" so much on car insurance?
I keep seeing these commercials where "people can save $500 or more on car insurance". Our two late model cars are fully insurance beyond what we need and they are only $950/year. Are you telling me I can get our cars insured to the same degree for $450/year? Seems really inexpensive.

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters Insurance rates can vary, but not normally by that much. And, you also have to take into account other factors such as driving record, deductibles, amounts of coverage, and credit history (yes, credit history plays a role in your insurance rates!).The more you're spending on insurance now, the more of a chance that you could save some money by shopping around and switching. Beware, though, the cheapest guy in town isn't always the best. Just like almost everything in life- you get what you pay for.
you can simply save by the make model and color of your car…For example…a red, ford mustand V8 is going to be crazy rates when compared to a white hyundai elantra…Big insurance hikes are due to:Color: mostly red, and otehr bright, agressive colors…lkike yellow for example…engine: a v8 gets makes your insurance higher than a v6model: a sports car or car that may be "commonly used in agressive driving" such as mustangs camaros etc… cause rates to be higher…also…if you have a good driving history that will lower your rates, no accidents, tickets, etc…different insurance companies will charge different ammounts. I will go on a limb and assume that when they advertise saving $500.00 or more, that 500$ is basically the limit, and those instances are more rare than they make you think…all advertising strategy with hints of truth so as not to get clobbered for "false advertising"
You know those people are actors, right?? Reading a script??This is called Wet Noodle Marketing. You saturate the market, and 100 people will call for quotes, and 3 – 4 will actually switch.
Color does not matter with insurance rates. That's a myth.
