Undecided Question

I recently got my vertical pierced, its a piercing through your actual lip. I get cold sores when my lip is irritated even a little bit. I was seriously not thinking that sticking a needle through it would irritate it, stupid I know. But I have numerous other piercings and I am very clean with them and they were never infected. My lip is so swollen that I had to take the balls off because the balls were being sucked inside tearing my skin. This process has been very painful, I have made a doctors appointment. But its not for a couple of days, I was hoping someone had some advice other than dial soap and sea salt. Thankyou
