How can I stop my kitten from chewing on the end of her tail?
I adopted two 4-month old kittens, who are brother and sister. Ever since I brought them home, the girl has been chewing on the end of her tail. This is not all the time, but happens often. She's been checked for fleas and mites, no sores or open skin … the fur at the end of her tail is just very short from her doing this. I'm thinking this is just the stress of getting used to a new home, and missing the people who taken care of her since she was found without her mom at 2 weeks old. Please, any advice would be appreciated. The vet wants me to put this plastic cone around her neck, but I just know she will be miserable. Any help please…

Spray her with water in the face every time she does this. It doesn't hurt them, trust me, but it does succeed in getting their attention. But please do avoid the eyes anyway. That would just suck. Also, maybe try to cuddle them a little, let them know this is a friendly environment, but don't force your love upon her, let her accept it. Source(s): Me, Myself, and my crwazy kitty.
get her a cone to put around her head humiliating but i works
My kitten does this too. He just turned 6 months old. Are you sure she's biting and not sucking? Does she knead when she does it? Taro, my kitten, sucks on the end of his tail and kneads and I've emailed people about this and they have said that it's just a comfort thing. Some kittens pick an object, like a blanket, and will suck on it. Taro does it before he sleeps and when he's scared, mainly when I pull out the vacuum. My last kitten, sucked on my blanket. It's just a comfort thing to them. The kneading is like when they were with their mother, trying to get the milk. If it's just sucking, then she should be fine.If it is biting, I suggest a spray bottle. Pay attention the next time she does it, listen for a sucking sound. Hope you get it straightened out. Good luck
