Few questions about my lip piercing?
So anyways
I got my piercing December 31, 2009. Its been three days. I just got a real stud today. The swelling has gone down a lot actually but I have a few questions that I couldnt find online.
First, my stud is embedding into my skin. Not a lot, it just started to about an hour ago and I'm not too worried because if I push it from the back, I can see the rod but it still sinks back in. But, I don't want it disappearing into my skin either. So is it normal for it to be doing this on the first few days? Or no?
And next, it has a somewhat of a heartbeat on that area of my lip I guess when the piercing sinks in. Is that normal too?
I don't think its infected because I dont show any signs of it being that way and I take very good care of it, my only problem is I still need to get sea salt. For now I'm using regular salt, but I don't like using it because I hear it dries out everything.

Clean it with a saline solution twice daily (1/2 a tea spoon of sea salt, 300ml of warm water and hold a cotton pad with the Solution onto the piercing). After 4-6 weeks you can change the ring to a barbell or labret. do not twist the piercing or play with it until healed. Seek medical help at any sign of infection.
1. The barbell is too short to accommodate the swelling. Based on the fact that you pierced it yourself, chances are that you used a normal length-ed barbell.2. When the barbell sinks in the skin, it's applying pressure to the area, and since it is a healing piercing, more blood will be sent to the area. Pressure + Blood = Heartbeat <3Happy healing! (:
You should really get a ring, they are easier to clean and it cannot embed. Do not use regular salt. Only use sea salt and water or soap and water. Soap and water worked best for my piercing. The heart beat thing is very normal and just stop using regular salt!
thats dumb dont experiment.
First of all I don't think doing a piercing yourself is stupid at all, by the sounds of it you are looking after it quite well and that's all that matters! From experience with a nose piercings i can say that the stud sinking in is because the bar is too short. when u get urself pierced they will usually give u a longer bar because even if it isn't infected, it will still be a bit swollen (often on the inside where you can't see). This may most likely sort itself out, after a few days when the swelling goes down, but i'd recommend getting a longer bar, because the stud always sinking in could do some damage (it won't heal as well)the heartbeat would also have to do with the swelling, your bodies sending lots of blood in that area to help heal it…. this should also resolve its self
u can also get special antibacterial sprays for piercings… they are pretty cheap and work a treat!it will look awesome once its healed ^_^good luck!
that happened to me i did it myself i was young and well i still do it alot actually with my nose and ears and etc…not to mention the tons of people ive piercedi used an earring as far as i know from all the times ive done this with myself and friendsi know this is normalcleaning salt water &peroxide DONOT USE HAND SOAPS! they can dry out the outside and they taste icky [lol] the throb is normal also, ice it brush your teeth!!in a few day take it out to clean it 'drain it' if liquid comes out the push it out as much as possible with a q-tip then re wash it meanwhile you should soak the stud in Solution of salt water and proxidei recomened getting a horse shoe as a healing temp then transfer to the stud fer best results Source(s): myself/pro-in-training pirecer
