Dying black hair red?
Hi
I've had black hair for about 6months, a few months ago I died the bangs blonde with peroxide. Then I got bored quickly and dyed all my hair back to black with semi-permanent dye. Currently my hairs mostly black, but the bits that were previously blonde have faded to a dark purple.
My hairs still in good condition but I really want to dye it bright red (like the colour the twin have on skins?). How do I go about doing this? Do I need to peroxide my hair first? Will it all go one uniform colour? Can I avoid damaging my hair too much?
Sorry for the information overload, I'm just useless when it comes to hair/beauty and would like to have a rough idea of what to do before I go buy some dye

Go to Sally's and buy a bucket of Quick Blue hair bleach. It's by L'Oreal which is an amazing brand, I haven't personally used the product but I have read many reviews for it and everyone says it's non-damaging and gives you wonderful results. It's like $25 a bucket I think, or you can buy it in little packets. Make sure you buy the developour, I'd probably recommend 30 volume so you don't totally kill your hair. Once it's lightened up you can go ahead and dye it red. I'd recommend going with L'Oreal Feria for the brand of dye because reds fade the fastest and Feria supposedly stays in. I'm dying mine dark red with Feria soon. (: If not, go buy Medium Intense Red hair dye from Sally's. It comes out a dark purplely red but fades to a bright red. Hope this helps!
first you should wash your hair repeatedly with shampoo, to help fade the semi-permanent black a bit. Then, but a hair dye remover (about $12 at Sally's), which should even out your hair's tone, along with hair bleach and developer. Apply the dye remover for 5 minuets more than the bottle suggests, unless you have a sensitive scalp. Rinse and dry your hair. After that, mix the developer and bleach by following the instructions. after all this you should have orange/blond hair, you can then apply the hair color you want. you'll need to strip your hair first. Im not sure if you can do that at home, ive had my hair stripped before when i got to dark and i wanted to lighten it. just make sure your hair is in good condition to begin with. because you'll be stripping your hair, then you'll have to color it whatever color you prefer after that, so it's alot of chemicals.
they sell this stuff at walmart that is stripper. it comes in a box that looks like its from the seventies. i used it when i had black hair and it turned my hair orange..which was bad then cause i wanted brown hair…but i ended up with red hair and loved it! so id say go for that… my assumption is that its better than bleaching your head!
It is bad for your hair to dye it so much. But if you are going to dye it again be careful because you can mix colors and it would look bad. Maybe get it done by someone who knows what there doing!
its rly bad 4 ur hair, but u'd have 2 bleach it first. my mom tried that w/o bleaching and it was like highlights. ask a stylist.
Don't do itRed dye fades so fxcking quicknot only that but you recently dyed it againeven if it's semi-perm it's not good to do it at least not yetand also peroxideSTRAIGHT UP?PEROXIDEyour bangs must be fried lovejust don't go to red. If you want to go red at least let your bangs fade then dye thatbut I wouldn't do it I've dyed my hair over 10 times:]Now I've stopped and my hairs never been betterJust leave it.You might be bored with it but do you want your hair to fall out?Peroxide straight up on all of your hair will FRYY It Source(s): Me
yeah you will have to strip your hair first, or either wait for the semi-perm die to wear off. realistically if you can afford to go to a professional that would be the best thing for you to do because drastically changing your hair from light to dark to light again is going to cause damage to your hair. And I'm not just talking about the texture and quality of it either. If you don't know what your doing you may end up with a rainbow head. At least thats what my cousin did. If you do decide to go ahead and strip (bleach, peroxide) your hair make sure you pick out a color that is duller than what you actually want because when you strip it its going to be WHITE, so it will absorb the dye better than most other colors. good luck.
