Insurance companies charge high rates for teen drivers because they have no driving experience. If you start at 17 or at 18 its the same thing bc you will still have no experience.You might want to ask your insurance company if they will charge less if you wait until you are 18 just to make sure. Also, ask about the good student discount if you have a B average or better because that will definitely help lower your premium. Insurance actually varies depending on what kind of car you are going to be driving and what kind of insurance plan you want. With some plans you can only have yourself in the car while driving although insurance payment will be cheaper. If you have a SUV or sports car then your insurance will be way more than usual.
