Does it seem that they stopped caring for her?
First a bit of background:
I have one indoor cat and used to have one outdoor cat. This cat was outdoor because she is extremely skittish and goes crazy when inside. So I would always feed her on the porch steps.
ANYWAYS…
My neighbors (an old couple) love cats. They have three indoor (one is blind and another deaf) so they're very dedicated. They're also very nosy. They told me that my outdoor cat, Myra, is always on their porch and wants attention and that they pet her constantly now. They accused me of being a bad pet owner which offended me because I DO take care of my cat. Now…
One day awhile back I found Myra with a new collar and a new name–Beauty. The old couple told me that's what they call her now. They built her a tree house as well and feed her canned food (I only give my cats dry food). So of course Myra stays there now, sleeping in the tree house, getting fat, her coat getting super shiny, and she's extremely lazy. It always disgusted me because I like my cats to be active and fit but Myra became a queen–numerous cat beds on my neighbor's porch. And everyday I look up to see her snoozing in her tree house. So I let it go, because no use causing an argument if the cat's happy then whatever.
Yesterday I came home from school and found Myra (aka Beauty) on my porch for once. She was extremely dusty and to my surprise she was skinny–skinnier that my other cat. Her skin just sort of hung loose, she looked terrible. She meowed up at me and I got her some food but she didn't seem interested and went back to the neighbor's.
Today I came home and found her on my porch again. She looks even worse. She was meowing up at me and I went inside and got the cat food. I walked out to the neighbor's porch to pour it in her bowl. But the bowl wasn't there. Her food dish were gone and the water dish was filthy.. but the cat beds were still out there so I'm confused. Have they stopped caring for the cat? They've had her under their name for about 6 months. It just seems weird that she suddenly looks awful. :S So what do you think? And nothing has happened to the neighbors, saw them yesterday taking their evening walk…
Thanks in advance.

I have a cat too. I found him on my porch in California very skinny, and he had cuts all over him… his family had moved away from him when he was a kitten!!
so he had been living on his own for a couple years until i finally took him, and he is now my cat. We moved a few years ago, and my cat found a house on the corner of my street, where he would go every day, and they would feed him. I love my cat and i take great care of him, and I know he loves me, but i also know he would've lived there too if they would've taken him in… so i understand you are not a bad cat owner…I know it's terrible that they just stopped caring for your cat, but you also have to remember she was your cat in the first place, and your responsibility so you need to take her back and feed her and make her healthy again, but they shouldnt have even taken her in the first place, and especially shouldnt have just abandoned her
How long are you going to 'wonder' if the neighbors stopped caring for YOUR cat?? Based on what you said about how she looks, I would say she is in need of someones help ASAP! She may need your help since the neighbors seem to have abandoned her for whatever reason. Obviously something is going on with her. She may be sick or injured. Cats often times have injuries that you can not see because of their fur. Are you willing to let this cat go hungry and possibly starve to death simply because you ''only feed your cats DRY food'' ?? The cat could have some dental problems or throat problems that interfere with her ability to eat only dry food. If she has a bad tooth or teeth or her throat is infected, etc., then that might be why she does not eat dry food. If she looks that bad and that hungry, then there is obviously a reason she will not touch dry food. Buy her some wet food and see if she will eat that. Are you willing to let this cat DIE because you don't want to feed her wet food?? Do the right thing and take her to the vet and first thing, have them check out her teeth. Animals can have the same teeth problems as us, and sometimes they can not eat hard food. She is obvioulsy looking for food and help and care because she is back at your place and meowing/speaking to you. She is helpless and needs YOUR help, so please do so. Well, I don't get any of this. How could you let her go back to them after yesterday with her being so skinny? And why are you asking here about it, rather than talking to them? Obviously, they aren't the cat-loving people you thought they were, you've got a very sick cat, and to me the only thing that matters is getting her to a vet. I would never give up a pet to someone I didn't know well, and you clearly don't know them well if you're having to ask this here. Please go back there, remove the cat, take pictures of it, take her to a vet, and tell these neighbors you have photographic and vet proof that she was starved by them, and that if they have a problem with you reclaiming the cat, you're going to file animal cruelty charges against them, the vet agrees (even if not true) and you'll get animal control to check the condition of their other cats. Then keep her 100 percent inside and she'll adjust after a few days. I have to respectfully disagree that you take good care of her. It's sad that she keeps popping up on your porch and you're not getting her to safety and getting her taken care of.
Myra might be sick and has lost her appetite. She may know that she is going to die soon and wants you to know how much you were a part of her life. I've had three cats die on my lap and I know what the final times are like. You can only love her and help her on her journey to the afterlife. You'll cry I'm sure. She just wants you to know how much she loves you. Regards, Dale
Maybe now they are in a tight budget and just felt like they can't take care of YOUR cat anymore, it's your responsibility to care for your pet NOT your neighbor sorry to be blunt but it is the truth. Your cat could be very ill you need to take her to the vets asap.
