Does car insurance cover for shattered side window?
My car got vandalized this morning and someone broke my backside window. (Not the big one but the small triangular window that does not slide down. Will my insurance company cover for the damage or do I have to pay out of my pocket? How much will it cost for that tiny window?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters If you have comprehensive coverage, it will. However, go get an independent estimate, first. If the damage is less than or slightly more than your deductible under comprehensive, then it won't be worth filing because your premiums may go up because of the incident.
It depends what insurance you have. Assuming you got a loan to buy the car, the financing company requires you to buy "collision and comprehensive" coverage. Vandalism falls into the comprehensive category because it's not driving-related. In most policies, the comprehensive deductible is actually less than the collision deductible. The glass itself is probably cheaper because it's a small window, but the labor isn't. Plan on at least $150 total. You should tell the insurance company ASAP in case you need to file a claim.
Yes, a comprehensive coverage will cover it.But an honest advise would be to get it replaced on your own else the deductibles will be higher. Getting a coverage for big problems is absoluttely fine .. afterall that is why we take the insurance for. But smaller ones have impact on deductibles and also on the selling rate.Think again about it !!Hope this helps !!-RobertAuto Insurance Expert since last 15 yearsCheck my blog ( stated in source ) for all the information you need !! Theoretically, it is covered by comprehensive (but not collision or liability). However, I think that window costs less than the deductible (the minimum amount that you pay when something is covered), so you would have to pay the entire cost out of pocket.
