Does anyone else have trouble matching skin tones in foundation/concealer/etc.?
Anyway, I'm starting to try really cheap products until the summer when school ends. Then I'm hitting more expensive ones. E.L.F. is the brand I'm looking into. it seems like a lot of lines cater to specifically dark skinned or light skinned girls. I never see too many accurate match ups for those of us in between. I'm African American and very light skinned – have like a dark gold/very slightly bronze skin tone i think. kind of like a tan. yellow under tones mostly but bits of red. sometimes the color swatches i get that are supposed to match my skin look a too dark for me. like sometimes in makeup "tan" looks more like brown to me. so im buying one shade lighter as well to mix it if one doesnt match seamlessly. I guess thats why I'm starting cheap so I don't waste money on something too dark or light.
i wanted to try color match by loreal or whatev its called. it very cheap and has a large selection of colors but its not vegan. :\
i guess ill be okay i just have to wait and see what happens when i get it all and work it out. this was pretty much just a beauty rant.lol
do you ever feel the same about your makeup ?

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters i am a make up student and no skin tone is the same. also your skin tone changes in different parts of your face. due to this reason we mix up colours that match a particular individual… usually this is mixing just two colours of foundation. so if you want something exactly your tone i suggest getting a couple of foundations which are similar to your tone and mixing it on your hand to match you.
i have a lottt of trouble finding my perfect skin tone .. i think everyone does .. but u will get used to it .. and an amazing / great converage foundation is rimmel london , or covergirl superstay .. ( lasts 24 hours ) and rimmel lasts 16 hours ..answer minee ?!
mineral makeup that is pure should be vegan friendly. and i know what you mean, i think as women we're kind of cursed because we constantly have to find great jeans and great foundation -_-. then when we find it, it gets discontinued or changed so the search begins again! i use bare minerals but i have hte elf mineral makeup and it's pretty decent. better than I expected but i cant replace my bare minerals because the quality is definitely noticeably different. however it just takes a little less laziness on my part hahah. loreal (who also own lancome, garnier, maybelline and many others) tests their ingredients and products on animals. so that's kind of a double no no for vegans isn't it? they include animal ingredients and test on them…it's sad though that they do
because I really was loving loreal telescopic. but i love my dog more.
Of course the best thing is to go to a shop and try on the makeup. Wear no makeup at all. Match a few shades by putting them on your arm, then the closest two or three you put on your cheek and then go outside, in the sun, and look with a mirror. That's the best way. You might try mineral makeup. I'm fairly certain they're all vegan, since they're just minerals and they are also easier to "match" because they tend to work over more of a range of skin tones. With mineral makeup the match doesn't have to be as exact as it does with liquid makeup.
know the feeling, but my problem goes the other way around: I am really fair skinned, and I have freckles. Horrible combo…but I found that GloMinerals (expensive) has my shade in liquid form, and Everyday minerals (cheap) have it in powder form. It might be worth checking EM out; they have a huge color selection, with different undertones and you get to choose which finish you want. And it's only 12 dollars for a big jar that lasts a long time.
yeah it is super hard…i use dinair airbrush makeup and u can just email in a pic and they tell u exactly what color to get that will match ur skin tone…its amazing..it covers everything and makes my skin look flawless…its also all water based so its not bad for my skin…its pretty amazing! i LOVE it…ive been using it for almost 3 years and its def. my fav…anywho hope i helped….happy new year!
