   Best Answer – Chosen by Voters Melanoma is the most serious and deadly form of skin cancer. I would go in and get any questionable moles or freckles checked out. One sign that you might have it is a change in shape, size or color, which it sounds like you have. There is no cure for any type of cancer, things like chemotherapy, radiation and surgery can put the cancer into remission or get rid of it, but there is always a chance it could come back. If you get in early and they find that the mole is cancerous, they will remove it and any surrounding tissue, and you may need a round of radiation. Just go in and get checked, especially if you've had it before!

   If you had melanoma before you should be getting regular dematologist exams (e.g. every 6 months or yearly). Have the mole checked out. Melanoma caught early is very treatable. So detection and biopsies of moles is important to avoid letting it get to far. Source(s): http://www.mpip.org
