   Exfoliators remove the top layer of dead skin cells on your face, which makes it easier for the skin to renew and heal itself. Its not a 'quick fix' by any means, but it really does make a difference if you exfoliate reguarly. A really great thing is if you get one of those cleansers with microbeads in, or use a facial exfoliating pad (the body shop do good, cheap ones), then you kind of get a regular exfoliation which really really really helps.    Yeah it does but it takes a lonnnnng time.If you have a scar you want to get rid of quick your best bet is to have scar removal surgery or buy a cream.

   Exfoliation over time does reduce the appearance of some scars. But that doesn't mean that you should go home and scrub your skin raw. It takes time. Source(s): I'm an Esthetician
