yes, the premiums may be higher for the modifications because if they are damaged or stolen, they are covered under the policy. if you don't pay for the extra endorsements, you won't have any coverage for the modifications, but only regular replacement parts… do it at your own risk. when i bought full coverage for my car, they had to look at it. i bought liability for antoher car, and they did not say i had to let them examine it. the mods will make the insurance more because it is prone to theft and easier to wreck. Most insruance will not cover the modifications if they get stolen. Unless you buy a policy that coers it. They might not even have a policy that covers mods
In many states the insurance company gives you about 7 days to get the car inspected by a 3rd party that they pay. Carco Group is very popular. A form will be filled out and pictures taken but if the person doing the inspection is not aware of the modifications and does not make a note of it you should be fine. It also depends on what the mods are before it can affect the rates if anything at all. This can also be used to protect you. What if you have $3000 wheels and tires and they are stolen? The insurance co. thought they were stock and offers to pay you $1200 minus your deductable. Source(s): http://www.carcogroup.com/
The only way they are going to look at your car is if you have rider insurance for add on equipment. If you ever expect to get paid for damaged add ons then you need rider insurance.

I've never heard on an insurance company looking at vehicle unless its been in a accident.
If you don't declare the modifications, they aren't going to pay for them if the car is stolen or damaged.
